La Grande Lauzade
is an old Provencal house, that was constructed in
the 18th century. It was built on the site of a former
Monastery whose origins date as far back as the 11th
century (and even before the year thousand, in Gallo-Roman
times the site was already inhabited!).
The original Monastery was large and well known throughout
the région, (see History
of Le Prieuré) was plundered and completely
destroyed during the French Révolution, and
then sold by the French State as a National property.
The house as it is today was built in 1790 on the
foundations of the church, with the original stones
from the monastery.
From farm to wine estate, the charming Guest House
La Grande Lauzade b&b is steeped in history of
its évolution through the centuries. Surrounded
by the vines which today still produce the wine of
Lauzade, the guest house offers you access to the
many different levels of the gardens for your pleasure.
A few steps from the terrace, lies the pool deck under
the Plane trees, heated swimming pool with bubbles
bath. The large Cedar tree in the lower garden provides
welcome shade from the sun.
This lovely "Bastide" is located in the
South of France, in Provence, near the beautiful classified
environment of " la
plaine des Maures", it is close to the French
Riviera as well as the wilder and picturesque "Provence". |

The Provence-Cote d’Azur region lies in the
far south of France, along the Mediterranean coast
from the Italian border to Marseille, then north to
the Haute-Alpes. Famous glamorous French holiday resorts
like Cannes, Nice, and St Tropez make the French Riviera
one of the most fashionable holiday spots in the world
to rent gites, guest rooms, self catering or apartments.
Away from the coast you’ll find here around
(less one hour drive) quiet medieval villages, woodlands,
lakes, and those famous fields of lavender. Then of
course there’s that fabulous Mediterranean sunshine
in which to enjoy your French holidays...

what Alastair Sawday writes about La Grande Lauzade here
Charming Provence! Whether it's for a year in Provence or just a week, this is one of the French regions that people from the north love to escape to. France's most truly Mediterranean region, a land of bright blue skies, even in winter, of olive trees, pastis, vineyards, wild rosemary and the scent of pine trees. But the region also spreads right up to the Italian border, through the dry ravined hills of the Mediterranean hinterland and the Provencal Alps. On the coast, known as the "Cote d'Azur" to the French, and the "Riviera" to English-speakers, rocky shores give way here and there to some of the world's most famous beaches, at Cannes, Nice or Saint Tropez. In summer this is a very busy region, at other times of the year - away from the cities of Marseille, Toulon and Nice, it is less so.
There is a common belief that "Provence" means all of Mediterranean France; it does not.
